Montego Bay is a city in Jamaica has taken the crown as the vacation capital of the island. The main reasons behind this are the city’s exceptional beaches with variety of attractions. The beaches offer visitors the island’s best waters for swimming and other water sports because the bay’s geography protects swimmers from rough currents. Doctor’s Cave Beach is the most popular area with its white sands, azure coastline, and a plentitude of restaurants and bars. Walter Fletcher Beach draws its share of beachgoers as well, and Rose Hall Beach Club provides an appealing alternative to the crowds.

The best snorkeling in Jamaica is offered in Montego Bay. Doctor's Cave Beach features one of the most accessible spots. You can’t find a better beach destination and since everyone knows it, you may as well join the daily celebration on the sand. You have miles to celebrate. This beach is five miles long that is also bordered by plenty of shops, restaurants, and hotels.

Walter Fletcher Beach also provides the best Montego Bay Snorkeling. Centrally located near the city's main attractions, the beach does get somewhat crowded. The extraordinarily calm waters and on-duty lifeguards make Walter Fletcher very popular for families with younger children, and the peaceful yet vibrant underwater life will excite every children.

But for those who would like to do a bit more, head across the channel for the Coyoba, Seaworld and Royal Reefs experience. All these reefs are full of wildlife, including barjacks, blue and brown chromis, yellow-headed wrasses, and spotlight parrotfish. Just be sure your equipped will proper equipment and have some knowledge before you do your Montego Bay snorkeling.

Runaway Bay is also the closest to shore that offers fantastic snorkeling opportunities. And other sites, like Spanish Anchor and Shipwreck Reef and Canyon are outstanding Montego Bay snorkeling

Probably the most astonishing sight would be the sunken city of Port Royale, which sank underwater after the earthquake of 1692. For those who don’t know, Port Royale is one of those buccaneer towns where famous pirates like Blackbeard had lived. Of course this sunken city is pretty deep; you need to set aside your snorkels for air tanks. Yet this dive is pretty awesome, if your getting bored of Montego Bay snorkeling, do some deep diving. But for this Port Royale dive, you will need to obtain special permission from Jamaican authorities, or local operators.
